are you japanese?
A lot of asians live here for some reason... not sure why.
It's pretty laid back here. The music scene is pretty decent, there are plenty of shows here, I've seen almost any hiphop artist you can name at a show here at one time or another. The hiphop scene is still growing. No one has really blown up here since sir mix-alot. Apparently some 20 year old kid, who is the fastest rapper in the world lives here. I just learned that yesterday.
Plenty to do here, I love it, I've moved around a bunch but Seattle will always be home to me. I'm not lookin to get married, but i've lived a lot pf places and this is where I'd raise a family.
anyway. Hit me up if you move here. (sorry for the the offtopic discuss)

not to mention that intoxicating aroma when you walk in, that shit is my favorite......
but on the real, that dude fluent is sellin a bunch of his records, i see him post about it all the time on the space, and on forums, just not on this forum yet i guess (crates is still in its infancy), but shit is on the green llama site, just google search it, he's got pages for days of ill grooves, check that shit out if your lookin, as for the hip hop, i am lookin as well, thats the one thing i can't go to the store and buy, i'm never findin good singles with acapellas on em, thats mainly what i'm lookin for, although i the near future i'm gonna start collecting my favorite full lengths to pass on to me seeds one day, just think, when your like 50 and you got this ill pile of records that were all your favorites to show your kid or whatever, thats some shit to be proud about
EDIT: wait you mentioned the smell.......well i second the love of the smell of old vinyl, shit is like stickin your nose right in the record sleeve the whole time your there, its quite refreshing

sometimes you can get good deals on ebay too. seen some people sell a whole bunch for a good price...but then the shipping can be a lil bit though.

come to seattle then
Man, I go up to Seattle from the Bay to dig. I always find good records up there, the records in the Bay are either way overpriced or non-existent due to the Dj culture here. Always worth the plane ticket
Online I would say http://www.dustygroove.com/ or
http://www.hipwax.com/funk.html or http://www.ebay.com
Gemm
When it comes to the biggest selection & VERY specific searches, this is one of the best portholes by far:

my dad's side (aka everybody in my family that's still alive) live in seattle. I go up there couple times a year and hit Bop Street Records on Ballard... INSANE amount of vinyl, the place is positively SHITTING reords. i think it's kind of pricey though, and i've never bought anything except a t-shirt cuz i feel like i don't know where to start and get too overwhelmed. and there's an awesome sandwich place called the black pepper cafe or something like that a couple doors down. have you been there whyseOne?
