Question about using the 404 with M Box

Post by SongCycles »

Hey

I was wondering if its possible to do this: I want to some how connect my 404 to my M Box so that when I record vocals(mics would be connected to the M box) I can use the 404's effect simultaneously. I've been trying to get it to work but to no avail.

I was thinking maybe I have to try one of these ways instead:
- Connect the mic to the 404 instead of the M Box and then do a line out(from 404) into the M Box
- Connect the 404 to a mixer and then into the M Box
- Or do go line out from the M Box into the the 404 and then and then Line out from the 404 into the M Box

Sorry if this sounds confusing, but I'm pretty confused haha.

Thanks in advance!

you could do either of those ways you mentioned..all will work..

what effect specifically? I'm sure there is a VST that can work...

the problem is the D/A of the MBOX is pretty shitty and ProTools has lag, so you could record the vocals then run the already recorded vocals from the MBOX out through the 404 and into the MBOX in..like I said this is a whole 'nother cycle of A/D and D/A conversion so it will degrade the sound a bit, but you may like it...

or just go mic->404->MBOX no problamo...

maybe you could record to protools, export the "dry" vocal in a way you can load it into the 404, then once you load it, throw on your effects and resample and import that back into ProTools
