using resample instead of the sequencer

im trying to make a beat in a timing that the sequencer cant do. do you guys recommend any tricks to use while resampling a beat and other patterns, to essentially not have to use the sequencer or recording to another machine?.... thanks.

I can't remember if your limited in the number of pads you can play while its sampling. You could try it though. Just set it up like your resampling and try playing the pattern in real time. Then you can trim it and loop it, assuming you can play more than 1 pad when resampling.

just don't sequence and double the BPM which effectively should double the "slots" available

Or you can use the sequencer just turn the quantize off.

or i think you might be talking about somethin like 3/4. 6/8. somethin other than four beats a measure, so what you should do is take out a piece of paper, and add up the number of beats in each measure until it equals a number that is also divisible by 4, a 3/4 loop can fit into 3 bars of a 4/4 4 times and then loop perfectly back to the beginning, 5/4 would be 5 bars 4 times, shit i think i just figured out a solid rule for anything other than 4/4 time to loop an odd time signature that uses the quarter note for the beat, you can pretty much get all sorts of choppy and make that shit work, just might take a few patterns or doubled BPM's to get all the sequencing and transitions of your different patterns and layout of the beat if its complicated

on a machine like the 404 I wouldnt worry too much about the sound quality when resampling. You could probably resample mad times before you hear the sound quality get worse. maby I'm wrong i never noticed anything though. I'll try posting up a resampling comparison soon.

About the resample deterioration, most of the time it's hardly noticeable but on some high frequencies one resample can destroy certain sonic aspects.
