We're all crazy, it's just finding out what kind of crazy you are. I'm Bi-polar with schizo affect, so I get kinda paranoid sometimes and think people are taking shit about me when they're most likely talking about their plans for the evening or something mundane. Hope everything is better for you now.

I sympathize. I was on mood stabilizing drugs for a year or so. I'm bipolar as fuck and more paranoid than I like to admit. Just gotta learn how to deal with your particular crazy. Gotta learn to see when it's just your brain fuckin with you. I recommend zen style meditation as often as you can manage. It helped me more than any doctor or pill ever has.

i think somethin can be said about our heavy interest in music, and that we are all very similar in how we act, think, and deal with situations, even though we all go a little crazy, i think its all within our own minds, and it is definitely hard to control sometimes, but that being said, i also think we all have a grip on reality and how to deal with things that alot of other people don't have, i don't know what it is (weed is probably a big part of it), but somethin about being part of this sampling and beat making group of people really helps make level headed people, i think its very similar to what skateboarding can do to a developing teen, at least ones that are absorbed in it for years, and i wouldn't be suprised to find that a good majority of people in here have been pretty into skateboarding at one point or another

yeah ^^ there's another post where a bunch of us realized we were ex-skaters, bmxers and rollerbladers...so yr right on that front.

and detail: yeah, i feel like i'm going crazy all the time....in fact, i mostly just feel like i'm the only one who's sane (which is SURELY a sign of craziness).

its all good detail, i been looked at as crazy n the outcast my whole life for not conforming to the norm or the status quo of things. not to say i'm anti everything popular cause there are some things in pop culture that entice me, but i see everything for what it really is n people hate that, so they'd rather point a finger n say outcast then get to know the person there pointing at. to hell wit non crazy people    banish them from the kingdom of cool..

Yeah my bro and pa duke, have bi-polar, and I probably have latent bi-polar too. but what is crazy really? I personally think most people are brainwashed, and crazy to believe half the shit society says is "sane". I feel like im one of the only sane people I know.

man, dope to see so many people chime in

I think it was Shakespeare who wrote "sleep is the balm of sore minds" or some shit

I just drove 19 hours straight from SC to KS with a giant Uhaul being towed behind me, left a dope girl behind, a job on a parasail boat in the summer, etc. etc. to pursue an MBA at KU this Fall...needless to say I was just churning and churning everything over and over to the point of destruction..

I woke up today rested and content with whatever may come

Best of luck with it homie. Sounds like a good plan to work from.

another +1 for the crazies. Totally agree with the comments about everyone being crazy in their own way... good to hear so many perspectives on the topic tho. There are definitely some crazy creative folks on here. 8)

Let's see...

When I was a kid certain BPMs were unbearable, I'd almost go catatonic. My mom's a visual artist and she told me when she was young certain colors used to do the same to her.

In my early 20s I had a schizophrenic episode. I thought the cops were coming and took off into the woods. The whole time there was major audio hallucinations as far as thinking I was being pursued and I was remixing Prince albums on the fly in my head in full Dolby stereo. Got picked up eventually and hospitalized till the insurance ran out.

Most people are asleep. Geniuses drug themselves until they can function with the sheep. Music is the universal language. I saw Mix Master Mike talking about how sometimes when he plays he thinks aliens are listening. I feel that. For me the sampler isn't so much a tool to make beats with as a hyperdimensional lock pick / salve for my tired brain.

donno why, but something about that one rhyme in IG9's post (asleep/sheep) made me think this could be written in rhyme. so i took a whirl. no offense for coppin' yr story, Iggy!

Most people are asleep.
Geniuses drug themselves to function with the sheep.

BPM kid, comatose and hardly bearing it
This is the universal language - I am merely sharing it

Mix Master Mike lockpicking with the aliens
filter, drive, resonance and variants

Hit the box, flick the knobs, and hear the lock click
Space invaders, weed inhalers, common-colour-catatonic

Across a wood lot, dead plot, long chase by old cops
Psyche-ward admitted until insurance cuts off

On the fritz, schitzo stints, Remix Prince in Dolby Stereo
All alone in lonely rooms, hearing voices and chopping audio

Now again, group of friends, fighting back the crazies
Message board, common chord, across divergent times and places.
