turntable issue

man, i can't get rid of the humming sound 60hz ground loop on my turntable and it's damn annoying! the wire conneccting the grounds on the tt and mixer is fine, and i used several different rca cables. when the mixer is on and the TT is off, waving my hand near the TT's rca connectors makes the hum louder. does anybody have any suggestions? any advice would be appreciated. tryin to clean up around the house and sample records at the same time, but not if it sounds like shit!

i had a simular problem with my old lab. I picked up the turntable and noticed the buzzing was increasing/decreasing as i moved it around. So i moved my turntable to a better spot.

Yeah could be radio signals or something like that bleeding over into the phono outs. Like Juxt said, try moving it elsewhere.

Unfortunately the connections on most TTs go bad after awhile- it happens all the time even on Tech 12s. It's usually in the RCA connector jacks themselves. Try all the above & if you're feeling MacGuyverish cut the cable and re-splice some other, newer jacks.

i readf somewhere that some older houses are wired diferent , and no turntable will ground . but i remember there is a fix for this , iwil try and look for it .

one thing u can try is running another ground from the terminal to one of your rca's. this might sound crazy but when i did car audio and there was a ground noise issue @ the rca's i wound tap into the ground and wrap it around the tip of the rca and shove it in. that usually works. give it a shot it wont damage nothing but if i gets worse then like mentioned before, in internal problems. go cop a vestax portable

heres another thing to try thats worked for me, get one of those 2 prong to three prong electrical outlet adapters and plug them onto the ends of your turntables power cords and also on the mixer ac adapter, try to have all three of those in separate outlets or at least on their own strip. this is how a traveling sound guy told me to fix the setup at the bar i dj at and it worked.

on that note, having those 2 to 3 prong adapters works good on those pa type speakers that dont need a head, you know what im talking about some clubs have them.

thanks alls. turned out i just had to keep the mixer and tt a few feet apart and it went away.
