A good price? I've sold mine for 300€ I think. Should have asked more for it.
I hear SPs generally go for less over seas though, so I'm thinking 300$ sounds like a reasonable price for a mint condition SP606 these days.
Anything sub 200$ would be an insta-buy for me.

I paid $400 for mines like a year ago...
I still don't regret that price...It's a solid machine that can work in tandem flawlessly with any audio project.

Yeah, I think 300-400$ still isn't bad at all. I've seen some 606s go for as much as a cheap second hand mpc1k.
When thinking about it, I definitely think mpcs are overpriced on the secondhand market... the 1k second hand ain't worth more than say 450$.

I recently did exactly that and really the 8800 is worth it's money. You can get 'em at good prices second hand as well, especially the 8000.
Crazy things happen with Akai lately and it shows, because their latest and 'greatest' can be found for anything between 1000$ and 2500$.
People really do not know how to value the new 5K, but consensus is Akai screwed up for the most part.
If I'd ever buy an MPC, I'd buy a 3000 or 4000. Not a 500, 1000, 2500 or 5000.

...i've almost arrived to think the same...mpc boys , when i comparing this with mpc 1000, they tell me everytime that sp-606 sucks, it doesn't have a strong sequencer and his sound is worst and that is like a "toy box"...but when i'm looking at the mpc 500 and the mpc 1000, frankly, they seems to me also toybox with big prices...i'm sure, expecially the mpc 1000, is more professional (64500 seq tracks 3000 midi outs and 45.000 midi ins+a little telephone for present + a new wife with
...i think the best mpcs are the 2000 xl and the 60...if i have to buy an mpc i will buy those.
...Have the mpc boys tried the sp-606 for real?...
