A coupla tracks

Post by 606man »

here's a couple of tracks made almost exclusively with the 606. They're a bit different than the normal 'hard tech' that we normally play out.

sp3cul8 - to hell with the scarecrows.mp3 - 5.23MB

This track uses quite a few 606 FX tricks, especially the reverb on individual notes in the bassline and live reverse tricks on the beat. The track was sequenced using the SP and 'mastered' through the Master Compressor.

sp3cul8 - matt foleys pep talk.mp3 - 5.12MB

This one's just a fun track, again almost ALL SP-606. I like the use of the tumbling FX on the main beat.

Hope you don't hate 'em! (they're quite different to my regular sound!)

pretty cool. not exactly my "cup of tea" but it sounds like you know what you're doing, having control over the machine and not the other way around. i'd be interested in hearing more... keep it up. peace & respect

Thanks man; they are more 'downtempo/breakbeat' than anything I guess.

I usually do straight up techno but the SP is making me have too much fun with broken beats at the moment :D

its definitely good to explore your talents, can't have fun if you don't live dangerously... with a sampler. lol

very nice man, juicy and funky tunes. i really like the melodies and synth lines, was that all made within the 606?
the bassline in 'to hell with the scarecrows' is terrific, very dancey.

these compositions work really well, and the mixing sounds great. all the elements complement each other nicely, sounds damn professional!

post more if you get a chance

I liked both tracks and I thought the bass synth on the Matt Foley track was very cool. Nice to hear Chris Farleys voice again.

:D Thanks guys for your kind words!

Drewzle: Yep; all 606, except the strings, which are looped on the 606 from my Yamaha V50 (can't go past FM synthesis for strings!). The bassline is an example of using a multisample kit on the 606, with stupid amounts of reverb on just one pad. This kind of thing would be more than doable on the 404 too - give it a go; it's nice to 'play' the sampler just like an old S1000..

Jason13: Yeah, Farley's a legend - I've always loved that 'motivational speech'.. I have a hard dance version too, which is funny as when the ravers realise they are being told they'll end up eating 'government cheese'..
