How do I set the pad kontrol to trigger the pad banks on my 303?
I know at least Drewzle has a Pad Kontrol.

The pads are butter but I got it last night and have been too busy to read the manual and figure out how to use it with my 303. I like these pads a lot more than the trigger finger I used to have.

this is my topic yoa...

I'm gonna need a midi controller, too. I just wondered if the trigger finger has some kinda 16 level velocity option like a mpc and a roll function?

I really can't decide which one to pick. The trigger finger seems to be more useful with my m-audio digiscratch 'torq' (more faders and stuff, straight m-audio)...) but the pad kontrol seems to be better with the 404?! (That touchpad looks dope) I don't care about the feel of the pads that much so would be nice if someone could answer my question above...

Thanx fam

Doc -

great choice man, you won't be disappointed

first - you need a wall adaptor to use the MIDI In/Out...the USB only works for the USB Bus In/Out

once you've got it powered from the wall, you have to set the MIDI channel to the same one the 303 is receiving on
to do this:
Scene - Setting - Prog Change - Midi CH - (turn knob to set channel, it will affect all pads in this Scene because you hit Prog Change (All Pad)

once you've set the MIDI channel:
go Scene - Setting - Note CC
then hit the pad you wish to assign, and sweep the knob around - it will go through all the midi notes and trigger them from your 303. choose which you want to assign and then move to the next pad

remember to SAVE your SCENE!! (hit Scene and Prog Change at the same time, then hit Setting to confirm)

also Wax - the pK has a preset of 16 level velocity you can load from the PC librarian software

16 Levels Mode: Not exactly but you can set the velocity of each pad individually. I think the easiest way to do it would be set up a template with each pad at the desired velocity. Bitch is you'd have to change the note number on each pad every time you wanted to use the 16 lvls on a single pad/sample/note.

Roll: Nothing at all like it. If so I can't find it in the manual, not even a workaround.

The only reason to pick a TF over a PK would be price as the used TF's go for less than $100.

like drewzle said, the 303 only responds to a certain note range, each pad a diffferent note.. so u just gotta set the pads up to send the right notes.

If you have a computer with some kinda DAW / midi software on it, you can use the PK without a wall power adapter, u set it to USB mode, then inside ur software you create midi routing so that it receives from the PK's controls, then sends it back out the PK's midi out port.

That's sounds cool Cartesia. I just use it to lay down drums in my 303 because they have adjustable velocity curves and flam/roll.

Oh its pretty tough.. dont worry about it unless you go opening up and poking round the insides/unplugging/replugging in the touchpad :P

What up "ninjas"

How do you get the roll/flam/hold to work on the pK... i got all the pads to set up
right with the 555 even though it was kind of tedious. Those instructions from Drewzle saved my life. At first, I didn't know what was going on. So big ups to him. really appreciated.

But yeah someone please help me out with the roll feature and stuff I can't seem to get it to work. thanks.
