another quick question. This might sound dumb but does the 404 have a built in speaker to play all the sounds coming out of it or do i need to buy external speakers/headphones to hear everything coming out of it?

Just for future reference NO pro audio gear has built-in speakers of any kind.

Thanks man. Lets say I was recording to a computer, would I need audio RCA cables with a headphone jack at one end to plug into a computer(http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/ ... 051_SEARCH) or audio rca cables that have rca plugins on each side?

Seriously man, is the answer to that question not obvious to you? Think about it, look at the audio ports on your sampler and on your computer. Was that question absolutely necessary?

i don't know about that. there is a juno with speakers, there's the original djx(which wether pro or not, pro's use quite a bit), many high quality piano's and organs have built in speakers too.

I was curious how long it would take for someone make that post.

EDIT: And yeah, there's exceptions to every rule.

well as a beginner, i would read the manual all the way through one time, read as many posts as you can and then probably read the manual again. i often refer to my manuals(and even then i still forget basic shit).

as for the cord question, it is obvious (but i think hema is just a little jaded he's outta the sp game again  ) but what may not be obvious is the quality you'll get. do a search, you might just find numerous other things about recording to your computer as well as more info to get those brain muscles joggin'.

happy samplin'

EDIT: hema i know there's an exception to every rule, i was just getting picky i guess. actually i would agree that no good sampler has speakers.
