Short question about the volumne (might be stupid too)

This might sound stupid but,

When I turn on compression on the sp-404 often the peak limiter lights up when I resample. I know that this is because the compression makes it louder, we are not quite at my question yet!

So my question is, does that in any way 'hurt' the sp-404 or my sound interface (sound card)? Just because also headphones break if the volumne is to loud. Or does it just hurt the 'audio quality' of the sample because the sound is to loud for the machine to get (overcompressed?)

maybe, but yeah the audio quality of the sample most likely... i'd tweek ish on my 303 using the delay fx to a point where i thought my monitors were gonna blow, weng-weng-weng-weng-wah-wah-wah-eee-eee-eee.... seriously though if your 404 is still running , your headphones still working then your cool... ''hopefully...'' but that was my experience with the delay fx, not too sure about the compression...peace

if you hook up a guitar amp at full bast to the 404 input than you might blow something. unless your dealing with a extremely loud output- i wouldnt worry.

whenever your peaking out digital gear your overloading it...wich can cause damage. However... unless the light goes on and stays on the whole time your sampling, you can prolly do it over and over again for 50 years and it wont cause any harm
