ALMOST DOESNT EXIST!!!

Post by J.A.I. »

the only problem i would say about the sp 404 is that it can only take 1gb flash cards. i'm online looking at stores thats in my city and i'm finding only 2gb flash cards. now i have to search around my city at local comp shops. bummer. i know online has them for cheap...very cheap but i need it now...just ranting.

Recommended CF card brands

Post by Lopar-XL »

According to the manual, these are the memory cards supported by the 404:

BUFFALO RCF-G (256 MB, 1 GB), RCF-X (32 MB, 64 MB, 128 MB, 512 MB)

HAGIWARA SYS-COM Zpro: HPC-CF128ZP (128 MB), HPC-CF512ZP (512 MB), HPC-CF1GZP (1 GB)

I•O DATA CFS-32M (32 MB)

SanDisk ultra II: SDCFH-256-903 (256 MB), SDCFH-512-903 (512 MB), SDCFH-1024-903 (1 GB)

It also supports PNY cards. If I recall correctly, folks have been having trouble using making the Kingston cards work. Apparently, they're not compatible for some reason and just add clicking noises to the samples. According to this thread, the SanDisk Ultra III cards may not work right in the 404 either; they cause strange panning and clicking problems in your samples.

lol its cool and yea i wish i thought to go there earlier. now i'll have to wait until friday. suckssssssssssss. i was talking to this guy today and he was talking about the firmware saying I should send an email to roland support center and ask them if they will released a firmware to update the 404 to around like 4gb since 1gb cards are almost done for. This was a CVS manager who was telling me about this also he told me they was selling them for dirt cheap like around 5 dollars because they wanted to get rid of them but that was 3 months ago. HORRIBLEEEEEEE

i've searched all over my city for a 1gb cf card. No one has them. So now i have to order online and wait a week to get it. WHY IS THE LIMIT ONLY 1GB. THOSE CARDS ARE DAMN NEAR EXTINCT

unfortunately they limit each unit to force people to upgrade. my advice is when u have some spare cash lying around, purchase as many cards as u can so u don't have to worry about these corporate thugs pullin at your wallet

I'm always speaking up for the computer with a card-reader system so I'll do it once more. I own only 1 card but I have many copies of the card on my computer renamed like ROLAND_August or so. When I wan't to use the card I created in August I just copy that folder to the CF and just remove the "_August" part from the filename. Fast and easy.
Also you can make like 10 copies of a pattern very quickly.

We should totally let Roland know that 1Gb is difficult to come by these days.

I can't help but think that a simple OS update should take care of everything.
