A more subtle over rated rapper is Tame one. The shit he did with the artifacts was mad dope, an people always say he was way better than el. but if you listen to his shit now, he sounds like a mentally retarded 9th grader rapping about weed. el da sensei's new shit is crazy ill, that man ages like fine wine.

im gonna have to agree with tex. overrated artists are 90 percent of all pop music. they are the ones who your highschool friends listen to and tell you they are way better than someone you listen too. i cant even listen to the radio anymore...in fact i dont. i stopped over three years ago. i find music through blogs and on here etc..madlib is far from overrated. but i dont blame you for not likin his music at all. but it def doesnt mean he's overrated. quite honestly i hated his shit too when i first heard it...then i loved it..like el-p i hated delorean and shit. now its my all time favorite i pump it still till this day. dont mix up not liking ones sound with being overrated.

ps. 50 cent is the most over rated ever.

mad skillz was talkin bout how all these main cats aint really tryna let anybody else in, really thats underrated since theyll tell u that they dont want anybody takin shyne, look @ game and 50, 2 cats that had so much original flavor that it tasted sour to them, where is game really @ now?
he may still be doin it but he aint doin it like 50 cuz 50s power is large enough to "close the door" on em.

i never followed that too closely. it just seems that the large music companies have turned music into a monoply as in what they decide is good is good to the mass majority ya know? and yea fifty has the power behind him so of course the game will dissappear right? it just seems hip hop took a turn for the worst ya know? i dont know if it was posted on this forum but i remember reading some topic about how someone sued the music companies for paying off radio stations to play thier music only. and now some cities radio stations have to play a certain amount of "underground" music. which is wicked and really interesting. and i think that will show how overrated alot of that music is, no?

word word, there was a HUGE payola investigation done not too long ago but its still cats flyin under the radar.
