Most Over-Rated...

Post by ghost bazz »

Producer or Emcee... (or Roland rep for that matter)

Whyse put Doom out there...

I threw 9th Wonder under the bus...

and Drewzle proclaimed a lack of allegiance to Madlib (blasphemy indeed) ...

Anyone care to add to the list, or defend the accused?

no doubt... dipset is all about drama at this point... those cats are like a bunch of sorority chicks... although I will say that I'm feelin the track on NY's Finest, We Roll, with Jim Jones and Max B, but mostly due to beat.

I'm gonna add an emcee to the list... LMNO. Ungh... I can't say enough bad things about this dude's weak ass flow, so I'll wrap it by saying that I think he sucks. I can't even listen to the Visionaries due to his cacophonous bullsh*t. Whatever... NorCal all the way.

Man... I'm a HATER!!!

hahaha dipset it a joke, and it sucks, only because of cam's close affiliation with them, i used to love cam, and then even more when i found his children of the corn cd that had way more than just the american dream with big L, and he is still comin out with fresh shit from time to time, his beats def lack sometimes though (esp after hearin that childern of the corn cd, beats are all raw sampled ish, sounds like it was made on the sp1200) and i do think some of his skill fell off.......

its a shame though, i really was all about cam for a while, he was one of the only big name emcees with that overly gangsta style that i was into too, then he started doin songs with juelz and that fuckin clown lil wayne

No doubt. I didn't want to mis-quote you homie.

Madlib is prolly on my top 5 list for most over-rated. He does do a lot of work (some of it good and some of it that sounds like it should've been left in the out-take bin). A lot of his stuff that gets pressed only makes it to release due to the fact that he's the current hot producer. I thought half the Madvill 2 stuff was garbage. He's remixing his own albums?! ... what the hell is up with that? I can't wait for Madvill 3... or the remix of the Percee P remix album.

from an over-rated standpoint, not people i actually dislike

producer
dr.dre-his stuff can impress from time to time but his lack of ability to switch his style kills me sometimes.

artist
2pac-i know i'm gonna catch flack for that one but he's more a poet then a rapper. i've listened to his whole catalog of work n was never overly impressed.

Young Jeezy, I just don't get it. There's no talent there.

Lil Wayne, he actually has some talent. Has giant fucking ego too, and unfortunately MTV/BET just feed it. Maybe after he's washed up and all the 15 year old girls have outgrown him he may actually make something real.

I like Madlib and MF Doom both but I fail to see what all the fuss is about.

Pretty much any rapper that came out after about 1998 is stale to me. Producers however have managed to keep progressing. I don't mean rap/hiphop turned pop producers either (Timbaland, Swizz Beats, David Banner, 3-6 Mafia). I mean the not so MTV crowd like JEL, Prefuse73, FlyLo, Peanut Butter Wolf, etc.

i like shit for different reasons. dipset is my jerry springer and craig mack is my jerry's kids.

jay-z cannot sing to a beat. the deltron 3030 album sounded like del never even heard the tracks and just rapped to a metronome. great beats, great lyrics... but it didn't work for me at all. brother j is my favorite emcee... but that new xclan is wack. lil wayne is way overrated, but i love me some carter 1. redman made the best beats i've ever heard in 94 on an s950. i'm jealous of madlib and i'm not afraid to admit it. but i think he's a tinybit lazy lately. rza bobby digital=wack. de la soul is dead, awesome. that artofficial intelligence, no.
young jeezy... i thought it was dope the first time i heard it. then it got old real quick.

never could get into 2pac... but it's probably just another artist i slept on by accident, like the roots.
