hey i'm planning to cop a 404! I found a used one for about 250 (the guy says he's had it for a year but it's in "excellent" condition). But the thing is, it doesn't come with a memory card.

Now, my dilemma is that I can either save money and buy that OR I can get a brand new one from my local guitar center where a guy will hook me up with a new one for 340.00 (retails for 395.00). AND I just found out that roland is having a special rebate offer in which they will send you a free memory card and sampler library(or something like that) if you buy a 404 or 555 between november 1 2008- dec 31 2009. MY QUESTION IS: Is it worth the money to get a new one? How much does it cost for 1gb memory card? ANDDD IF ANYONE HAS PURCHASED A 404 OR 505 AND GOTTEN THE REBATE, WHAT KIND OF MEMORY CARD DO THEY GIVE YOU??!!!

HOLY CRAP I KNOW THIS WAS KIND OF LONG BUT ANYONE OUT THERE PLEASE HELP ME!

$250 is cheap bro! Are you sure it works? The cards for 404's are cheap.

Hey Just Jeff thanks for replying so soon.

So I guess I should just go with the used one and pay 250?
I'm sure everything works fine. I suppose I wouldn't mind a
little wear on it.

Do you have a 404 as well?

nope I have had a 303 for almost 5 years. I want a 404 just for the portability. I may sell my mpc 1000 and get one.

I think you should buy new... you're probably talking about $75 saving once you've purchased your cf card if you get the used one. The only reason I buy used gear is because it isn't in production anymore... if you can pay less than $100 more and have a warranty, it's definitely worth it.

I agree with Count here, although I must say I've never had issues with the few secondhand machines I had either.

^^ co-sign, bro. pay a bit more money for peace of mind. but, as has been said, i've never had probs with used gear either (but buying used for me is for CRAZY deals or out-of-production stuff).

404 is great. cards are cheap.
