seriously, why do you even bother coming on this site and fighting with fans? yeah i know you didn't plan to start a fight, but if you walk into a room full five-year-olds and ask them what flavor ice cream they want (twice foor that matter) then keep coming back into the room just to make sure they want ice cream but never get any ice cream for them. you're gonna have angry, sad and disillusioned kids.

if you wanna help, then help!

Im not fighting with fans but im also not going to let someone be rude and say whatever they want to me without me having my say as well to explain my side.

Now if your comparing yourself to a 5 year old then thats on you , go the the freezer and get yourself a scoop of ice cream. I thought this was mature forum with adults using gear they love. Not 5 year olds.

Obviously i cant just snap my fingers and make content over night , it takes time and theres also other products im creating content for. Ive been doing this for a while in other forums and i decided to start doing stuff over here. Again it takes time and if i was talking to a 5 year old yes i wouldnt expect him to understand that.

Have a great night !

Yo... I agree with what jbl said. Sample packs are whack as fu*k anyway... so I personally don't really care what kind of packs Roland deems worthy of offering up for free.... unless of course you come correct with that Madlib pack I been hearing so much about. 8)

This forum has maintained a non-commercial base of operations and I think you should do Roland's market research somewhere else... and comp those who take the time to participate. This thread has been one big waste... it's had some highlights, but fo real... what's the point?

Any sample pack... that's the point. "sample pack"... you own a sampler, so sample with it.

i'd give all my drum packs just to get a new command that incorporates the hold button on my 404... or, i'd give some drum packs to anyone who can tell me what the hold button does anyway.

I agree , YET everyone wants free sounds ! Not you but thousands of others out there do.

I download free sample packs all the time from other companies that offer them. Why ? I go thru em and find samples that are pretty cool or have potential to be used in conjunction with something else. Hence this is where i get heavy into re-sampling creating kicks and snares that are comprised of several layers some that come from FREE sample packs.

IF you have a drum loop on a pad and you have loop points set , pressing the hold button will continue to re-play that phrase over and over untill you press hold or the pad again. This is usefull when doing live performance type things and you wanna start stacking loops over each other or vocal lines or getting ideas for a track.

Did you say there was a position open...? Yes, I'll take the job.

just playin... on the real man, keep fightin the good fight. You should peep the arena... it would be dope to get an Acosta track in one of these battles... and you could probably do it "on the clock".

Whatever mike says eh...

i was just gettin' tired of waiting for the stuff he asked if we wanted(we never asked you, at least i didn't). so i made a statement and lo and behold he comes swooping down, a month later, to say i'm to busy to finish it right now. well he's not to busy to write numerous posts in his defense. whatever...

oh and i intenionally used the five-year-old metaphor to test mike's character and i have. but i won't go into it.

and no the 404 is NOT more advanced than the 808/505/606 with the exception of memory media or processor speed(arguably, but whatever). i wasn't talking about other gear; this is sp-forums and all.

to mike i digress, not because i'm wrong or right but because the others on this forum, whom i do respect, prefer me to leave it alone, for whatever reason; so here's your chance go ahead and get the last word, i know you want to.

Theres no last words , i reposted on this topic because PHEMOX asked about the 8800 patches , so all i did was post a link to where he could get them.

THEN you and count made some comments about no love for the SP and YOU swooped down on me about it. You just said you were tired of waiting so you obviously took your frustration out on me.

And just for your information i already have content created and im finishing new stuff now as we speak. But there is a process and time schedule for all this stuff to get posted and press releases to be made. Those things are out of my control.

Its not like i can just go and post something on our corporate site on my own.

Also you cant compare a SP-404 to a SP-808 , SP-606 & SP-505 , for one the price points on those machines were more than what the SP-404 costs. The SP-404 was made to replace the SP-303 at the same price point. Im not sure if you understand that and IM NOT trying to be argumentative here or be rude. Just trying to explain the madness behind the SP's.

SP-606 replaced the 505 at the same price point with added features
SP-555 replaces the SP-606 around the same price point with added features

SP-404 replaced the SP-303
SP-303 replaced the SP-202 ( Dr. Sample )

So , maybe you would have been better off with a SP-606 or 555 ? Not sure what your issue is with the 404. Although i noticed from another post you did , you've never owned or used a 303, 606 , 505 , or 202 ?

i've never had or used a 555, 606, 303 or 202 but i got the others and i would say they all have their strengths, seriously i like 'em all but the 404 is the one i would choose if i could only have one of my three.

So how can you compare JBL ?

If you compare the 404 to the 303 it is more advanced and it stays at the same price point.

SP-404 , 12 pads vs. 8 pads on the SP-303
404 , 32 efx vs 26 on the SP-303
404 has 12 voices vs. 8 on the 303
Increased sample memory banks on the 404
The SP-404 can have a total of 120 samples loaded vs 32 on the SP-303
Internal a/d conversion was improved on the 404 to 24 bit vs. 20 bit on the 303
SP-404 uses Compact Flash vs. Smart Media on the 303
Note storage on the 404 is 8,000 vs. 7,500 on the 303 sequencer

So to me that seems like an improvement , especially keeping it in the same price range.

Initially you said " retro " gear so had you been more specific and said " earlier SP series " i could have addressed that differently.

Look im just here to help and answer questions for those who need it , plain & simple. To JBL if your upset because the SP stuff has not been posted yet , i apologize , its done and theres more on the way but theres a process thats out of my control. I also apologize to the forum for letting the rant between JBL and i go on. I was just trying to explain myself and what the process is for stuff like " free downloads ".

See ya

p.s personally i love the sound of the SP-303 vs. the 404 , to me its more grimey on my drums , i dont have to use as much MFX processing for doing Trip Hop and Downtempo Chill tracks.

Now for radio , when i do live mixshow , i use the 404 , i need my commercials and drops and beds to come thru nice n clean , very clear and i need more pads. So the 404 does the job.
