He asked me if the 8000 patches were available and i responded with the link.

I personally do not do sales. Im a product specialist so i help people understand what the product in our division of Keys & Synths / Samplers do , so they can make a better decision on what they wanna purchase.

If a person chooses a SP over a MV-8800 or vice versa, it makes no difference to me so long as he's happy with his purchase and thats what he wanted.

And if a person chooses not to purchase a Roland product and gets something else thats cool too. Everyone has their opinion and their own style on what works for them.

So COUNT , whats the point of your post ? Its a free multi-layered drum kit for the MV-8800 , plain n simple. Its meant FOR ANYONE who owns a MV that would like a free kit. Not someone " that knows how to sample ".

And since when did some of you become financial experts on what pays Roland's bills ? LOL

Quit being bitter and impatient. I said there are things on the way for the SP and thats it. Theres already a promo out now on it where new users get a free CF card with several new soundbanks ( in the U.S only )

There will be more stuff to come in Jan like i said. We have several product lines not just SP so we have to do stuff for all of them.

Again patience.

yeah dude... I'm not attacking you or what you do. Corporate guided decisions are always gonna try to exploit what's currently hot (aimed at the "dirt & grime" concept). personally, I think there should be less focus on bringing software-like accoutrements to our hardware and more focus on adding increased functionality.

Is it possible to upgrade the OS on the 404/555s? That would be some ish.

And theres a bunch of you who feel the exact opposite , that DO want more software integration and features. Nobody is ever happy and thats why no product is EVER going to be PERFECT.

You wouldnt believe the amount of email requests that come in for a SP-404 software converter amongst other things.

In all reality could the SP line be improved , yes but also keep in mind its a small sampler under the $700 range and SP's do have limits , if you want bigger , better features and more functionality in the sequencer then you can step up to the MC line or MV line.

damn you sound like a salesman. in all reality you don't know what pays the bills either so stop frontin'. maybe you get the sales report and if so enlighten us on how many sp's you sell vs. mc's and mv's. my money would be on a shitload more sp's but i don't know so i won't act like i do. and as far as stepping up goes i might say the mv is worth it BUT the fact that newer sp's are intentionally crippled to make people "step up" is a crime and exactly why so many people who know a little something are buying retro gear that didn't have so many limitations.

That has got to be the most funniest thing ive read today.

Yeah right thats why so many people are buying SP-1200's , MPC 60's , Fairlights , S-900's , ASR-10's , S-750's , SP-12's

because they ARE SOOOO FAR advanced in technology and theres just NO limits in those machines. 8MB , 12 MB & 16MB of sample memory is sooooooooooo much more innovative and far ahed of the curve , yeah no limitations there , EFX oh thats right most of those didnt have EFX and the ones that did AGAIN soooooooooooo awesome. Not too mention on some of the " retro " synths , you couldnt even save patch data. Yeah thats not limiting there.

Having owned and cut records on some of the pieces ive mentioned were some of THEEE MOST limited pieces around at the time which forced you to become more creative and find ways to do things. Which i didnt mind.

People are NOT buying those retro pieces because they have no limitations , they buy them for the SIMPLICITY & SOUND. Those machines did really only 1 thing and for some guys its EASIER for them to use that than say ohhhhh PICK UP A MANUAL and read or spend the time to learn how to operate the new machines.

Retro , not limited ? Ok

As far as your financial analysis , keep in mind that Roland has ALWAYS been a KEYBOARD company , so keep that in mind when wondering " what pays the bills ".
