I'm having trouble updating my 404 from 1.2 to 1.4. I know the card I'm using works, and when I turn the 404 on with the card in, nothing happens. My 404 also won't recognize .spd files that I put in it's root menu.

I've already initialized the internal memory of the 404, and nothing changed. What could be wrong?

nice link. i checked it and realized that now folks are gettin' cf cards and sound libraries. what the fuck are we beta testers. i'll put money on that mike acosta thread that he was asking us so he could make that for them and will never make us jack...

mark my words that thread is another dud; do you think he'll ever get at us.

sorry thread jacking.

you know root folder means DON'T put in the folder but beside it and directly onto the card, right? after that i'm not sure.

there is a bug in 1.04

when you try to export long sample, it will freeze unless the sample is on Gate mode.

weird .

Not a chance in hell. Just look at the track record.

SP-202 cats wanted a sequencer. They made the 303.
303 cats wanted battery power. They made the 404.
404 cats wanted sample their sequencer loops. They made the 555.

Notice the pattern? They ain't interested in making what's already bought and paid for better. They're interested in making you want to buy MORE. BUY BUY BUY. Such is the way of any large corporation.

Great, well thanks so much for the help with my problem....

Once again, my 404 doesn't recognize the upgrade when I load the card. I'm putting the file in the root menu, next to the "Roland" folder. Also, my machine does nothing when I put .spd files on the card. Shouldn't it automatically load this stuff? What am I doing wrong? Or is there something wrong with my 404?

Thanks

try importing a wav file.

make sure the update file is in the root directory . erase everything else if nececary, i dont think its possible to import sp0

yo hema , 202 couldnt possibly have a squencer, 303 couldnt possibly run on batteries,

i think it is more than possible to resample sequencer with an OS upgrade.

True enough. The 404 could conceivably resample the sequencer though. The 202 and 303 both could read larger SM cards but lo and behold they never bothered with that update. Same goes for the 606 (limit 512mb wtf?) and 404 (limit 1gb) with CF cards. There are 32gb CF cards yet the newest of the line is limited to 2gb. They only update when there's a bug. Roland ain't lookin to make friends they're lookin to make money.

If that ain't enough to illustrate my point. Two words PITCH SHIFT.

Sorry for the thread jackin.

found a nother funny glitch.

when you try to export a reversed sample, it will freeze and just sit there.

took me a couple reboots while saving to remember the sample was reversed.
