I think in some cases this will help some people, but not all.
Some people may be so used to the workflow that they need something to freshen up their approach to building a beat... but for others who may buy new equipment when looking for motivation, they may realize it wasn't the machine, but just themselves at the moment that needed to be re-adjusted and re-freshed to something that may need to hear / see / do.
Hitting a wall while producing is very frustrating. Usually I put the track away and start on something else. This allows you to time to to make more tracks and keep you away from getting aggravated. Before you know it you'll have an arsenal of potential hitters or have finished a NEW song.

hmmm, yeah. maybe every time we get new gear, we should pick up a mirror too!
it's two edged sword...sometimes a new box can really open the doors, other times it just delays learning you should be doing regardless of the box.
