Hi. I'm new and want to get into beat production.

Post by Les Braun »

Yo, this is 8BIT representing Switzerland. I came across this forum while looking for porn. I want to do beats like MF DOOM or Dilla do/did yo. Like sampling vinyl and shit. What do I need? I know they both used MPC's, but I heard Roland makes good samplers, too, so I was planning on getting an SP-404. And I have a TT with a mixer, but not many records(I'll be buying them though). Would I need anything else? Thanks in advance, guys.

yeah man records, turntable, and SP404 is a nice basic setup. You can get a recorder or just record directly into the computer.

Cool beans. Can you recommend any cheap recorders, or can you explain to me how I record directly to the computer?

the boss BR series are good digital recorders. You can also hook your sp404 to your computer and download free recording software like audacity.

Ok, so I'm guessing the SP comes with a usb cable? That's cool because I ALREADY HAVE AUDACITY.

I dont think you can put a beat on the computer with the 404 and usb.
You can hook it to the computer and record the audio using a cable like this

Awesome, I used that cable to connect my iPod to my mixer. Good...do I need anything else? You've been a great help, by the way. If there were a rep button, I would've repped you.
