Hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving. I'm new to the forums and had a question, just purchase a 404 and i know that it have up to 1GB for the flash card. I saw a SanDisk Ultra II 2gb compact flash card on sale at radio sharck for 12 bucks, will this work on the 404 or do i need to get a 1GB card?

Thanks in advance, also let me know if i need to post this in another section...

i grabbed some cheap cards from ebay and they pause between pattern changes, real dodgy. so i'd say it's worth getting the Sandisk and other recommended brands

Welcome to the forum, another good tip is to buy a lot of 256mb Sandisk CF cards and just keep certain drum kits of sample chops on arranged sets. Then all you have to do is find the card you want and load up the sounds, instead of having to get a whole kit together each time you want to get funky.

That's my favorite card... I've tried others, but the Ultra II is as smooth as silk. No problems whatsoever. And 12 bucks is a great price for one.

I am on a bold and dangerous journey to finding the correct compact flash card for my sp 404, and I have to report that, that listing of cards that work with sp-555 isn't necessarily compatible with sp-404.

It would be cool to have a post listing all the brands that work with the sp-404. The only thing I can contribute right now is that these cards did not work for me with the 404 so far:

Not Working:
SanDisk Ultra II 2 Gb (not recognized)
Dane-Elec 1GB (Pops and crackles)

I'm in philadelphia and it's hard to find card locally! So far I've tried Radioshack, a photo place, cvs. They all have cards and they're all the kind that won't work with the sp-404..

You must buy 1 GB sandisk ultra II to know the greatness that they are. They are pretty much all I use with a couple exceptions that are basically higher quality 1 GB sandisk cards (ultra III). They are great cards, you just can't use anything bigger than a 1 GB compactflash card with the 404.
