playtime is over -

am rebuilding all my sample banks into my new 404 - I used to use the subsonic effect to fade out the ends of untidy samples when resampling.

It works great for fading the ends of samples - but for trying to fade in - on resample - when you move the 3rd knob it changes its function to the entire sample recording level and NOT just the subsonic level fader.

It seems weird it will act as a fader during or at end of resample but not at start - unless it's function doesn't kick in until the actual resampling has started (?)

anybody found a way around this or am i doing something wrong?

you're right it does not quite kick in until resampling starts. i would record a bit of silence at the begining of the sample(just a second or so). start to re-resample and then after that second start your fade in. it might help a little but its very hard to reproduce the exact same fade in every time. if there is to much silence, just truncate (mark and chop).and the sample level will always change if you try before the resampling has begun.

i'm remixing a sanboto song right now, ever heard of that(?), commander of the pretty young ladies

that sounds like a great work around and will check it tomorrow morning - thanks jbl.

that wil be very sweet if it works like yu said - well done.

I am constantly surprised what this box throws up if you keep plugging away at it.

if the samples already exist as files you should just do the fade outs on the computer

thanks dman - i have soundforge to do that but with my 404 stuff I prefer to do as much as possible "inboard". it doesn't make sense, it's just a personal thing.

whatever i can do on the 404 i find more satisfying - even though the final track might be less impressive to a listener.

If I start sitting at a computer I will then tend to do the entire track in acid.

This fade in trick will be very useful in battles for whenever i get the time to join the next one.

u can fade in with the subsonic efx on!make shure before you resample the volume knob i.e. knob3 is all the way to the left, before u press the resample button play the sample u wanna resample and put the efx on it but make it so the volume is all the way off.and also make shure your setteings on recording are set rite so the threshold is off. hope this makes sense
