cables

Post by kel »

I've been saving up some money and I want to buy something. I've got a nice turntable, amp, mpc2500, and sp-404. don't need a mic, and have access to a nice protools system whenever i need. yet i'm running all this with some cheap cables. part of me wants to grab some nice mogami rca's, and rca to 1/4's for bouncing btween the 2 samplers. has anyone compared cheaper cables to expensive ones? what kind of cables do you guys use? and is it really that important if my signal will be pretty much unbalanced on its way to its final destination?

instead of Mogami, order from www.redco.com

they have a custom cable maker and you can choose your ends and whatnot, but if you use their house cable it's up to Mogami spec, just cheaper...I get all my cables from them, call them up and bug them if you want...

I just got some sweet TS to RCA cables with Neutrik ends for my 404

Them Redco shits look nice. I use cheapass $1 cables, but I have really low standards.

Same here, cheap RCAs seem to work just fine.

I once decided to change one of my cables because apparently mice ate parts of it, but it still worked fine.

I make all my unballanced audio cables by myself. I buy original neutrik connectors directly from importer and cables in guitar store on meters. Than I cut and solder depending on need. I find Neutriks 1/4 and RCA'S are of the best material and really easy to solder (no need of flux), easy to put together, and most compact. I trust my soldering joint better than anyone elses. It cost like 4 EUR for connectors and 1 euro per meter of cable... it is much cheaper than buying stock cables.

just my 2 cents, crumb
