I use mine on batteries often- didn't think I would but I do- I take it with me places and used it in flight to a gig in Seattle earlier this year. I sat and tranferred samples from my M-Audio MicroTrack and edited and grabbed samples from the plane- the crew and passengers glanced a bit but was a non-issue otherwise including security scan where I thought for sure they would have made me open my bag and check it out.
A fav from the plane were a small kid saying "Um, is R2D2 a good guy?"
I have to filter those as the background noise on a plane even not in flight is nasty.
I made a short piece all battery driven on same trip through Santa Fe- I should post it here for you all to have a listen- I'll see how to do that- features a thumb piano I bought mounted on a drum skin- beautiful- from a German maker. Non filtered samples at the end gets noisy but just a fun thang. (I tried to post the file 3x as attachment but got "Tried to upload empty file" each time)
Have fun-
