FX - SP-555 vs. SP-404

hey, Im curios, are the 555's extra features really worth 300 smackers?
i mean the Dbeam and the loop capture are tempting, but my kaoss pad can already catch loops live

idk exactly what the loop capture does however, so I may need informing

but I just dont feel 300 dolars is worth just a tad extra features
especially when the 4 extra pads dont have much use seeing as its only 12 voice poly

i own the 555 but its my first hardware sampler ever and im in love with it.........sorry guys shes mine

It depends on what else you have. The 555 adds an audio/midi interface which alone is pretty big deal...unless u dont use computers at all of course. The extra effects are pretty nice and there are lot of small things like dedicated pattern/sample copy, the ability to sync effects to pattern BPM instead of just sample BPM, more quantize options on the sequencer etc. Plus the obvious things like 4 more pads, loop capture and all that other good stuff. That being said...the 404 is still a very capable machine. Just as capable as the 555. The 555 just makes your life a little easier.

well I already have EMX and KP3
so i dont think the extra stuff is really worth 300

Probably not. I got the SP555 instead of getting the kp3. Having both would be overkill... Loop capture is sweet, you can arm record which is triggered on input and you can overdub loops on the fly. It's great when inspiration strikes and resampling with the fx is excellent, you can get a lot of mileage out of a few sounds. Anyway check the demo videos on the roland website, they cover most of the features.
