Beanz, you're man of the match now :)

Maybe the case with those samples gonna make our work harder, but I think it's still in our range.

I think I'm gonna make some intense use of my 'internal mic' + saxophone :)

thanks beanz, thats cool. It may good if someone can contact a site like CDbaby and see if we can get past the admission fee, and maby give us a deal on the % of sales they take. Or if someone has a better way to avoid these expenses.

here is a track from an old failed experment album i wanted to do. No samples, its recorded sounds from a keyboard tweeked and sequenced in the 404.

let me know how it is. I may try again or sit out for the official roland mixtape. All I know is sampling 8)

Thank you for the compliments. I don't mind being the go-to guy for things. I will be changing the rules a little bit considering the fact of not being able to use samples. I will post new rules within the next couple days. IF YOU WANT, sent me a PM or email or something of the album and the artist and name of the song/s you sampled from. I can try and get the samples cleared by presenting our proposal. Don't get your hopes up though.

As for now, you can use any program/instruments/hardware to CREATE your sounds. You may also use external fx. You may track out a beat into any DAW for minor editing, But all sequencing and arranging of the beat as a whole must be done on the SP. So after you create sounds, licks, grooves, breaks, whatever, dump em' into the SP and start banging. this is just a rough draft, I will post when I figure it all out.

As for DrumBreaks. . . You are not supposed to use them. . . get it!!!

i was trippin the other night 'cause i had listened to the track a million plus times fixing the pieces that were off ie, the kick, the intro etc.

i know its not garbage but even when you hear your favorite track a million times in a row it starts to sound like a piece-o-crap ahah.

As far as the vocal sample, I'd love to add one. I just can't find one that fits the sluggish mood of the beat well enough, I'm still workin on it though and I will have it finished by the end of the weekend.

This charity thing is very dope. I have a few questions like sampled drums and whatnot. I know a lot of jazz musicians so piecing together something original won't be hard, for me at least. I have the resources and the equipment. Might take me a couple more weeks to get up on that but in the meantime lets get this first tape finished.

Count your beat is ridiculous dude. Love it, and thanks for all the support sp famo. I just got off work early and I'm about to clean my kitchen and sit down to a brew and beats.

Ellahu, I miss my sax. I will eventually buy another. I wasn't using it and gave it to a friend of mine's son. He takes band class at his school and wants to learn the sax, but his family didn't have the money to buy one, nor rent from the school. I couldn't make time for the sax at that point because I was trying to step my dj level up, so instead of letting it collect dust, well the case anyway, I let some little kid fill out his dream. As much as money means in this world today, That feeling you get when you do something for someone with nothing in return is immeasurable .

But I will get another one. Quote me on that.

beanz, i feel you on that... i gave my $5 thousand dollar pc to my lil brother for his own music.. he's doing shows and whatnot around the area here so I feel it was a good investment on my part. Plus seeing him live brings a tear to my eye.

i might be able to do my part with drum breaks. my band has a nice set up with drum mic's and two drummers with a solid style. if we had reference material we could "re-interpret" the break and send em out.
also guys, if you havn't been, http://freesound.org and http://audiocookbook.org/ are great resources. the samples are under creative commons, and since we will be doing it non-profit, i believe its all legit!

There is a site called soundboard.com. Tons of sounds and they are all free. If you create a free account, you can save all the sounds you like on a ... well... board. A soundboard. yea so go check that out.
