The SP-Forums Mix/Beat-Tape

no problem man. there is no deadline as of yet. Letting everyone have time to find the thread and make a beat.
As for shmedy, post up both. Island and The other one, after you finish workin on them. let everyone in here decide. I don't want to be the only guy with opinions.

waddup fam? really nice bunch of beats submitted so far. I finally found some time to make something this weekend... any feedback is appreciated.
Progress.mp3 - 3.67MB
the variety on this album is gonna be ridiculous... so many styles in the mix. All the way from the "I get raw!" to the super polished.

are you kidding?! don't even trip... that track is dope. Super laid back and introspective groove. You got room on there to drop some vocal samples in, but that's just a matter of taste, I wouldn't even say it needs anything else. Definitely a solid track.whyse0ne wrote:submitted garbage!!! let me redeem myself.
Count, In the beginning I was like "ok..", then the vocal came in with the variation and I was Like "DAMNNN". Nice track.
Whyseone. I know you aint really thinking that your track was garbage. Just fix that kick man. if you don't use that, I am gonna sneak that track in. That is the premier outro track.

Just got off the phone with Mike Acosta!!!
What's up people?! I just got off the phone with Mike Acosta (who knew it would have been that easy) and pitched him the idea of the beat-tape, and how we plan on donating any sales towards a charity. He said he loves the idea and will pitch it to his marketing managers. HERE'S THE CATCH:
The samples in the beats made have to be self created, not sampled off of a record or other production. I know that that sucks, but Roland cannot be liable for any clearances and legal issues if they are going to help sell our Beat-Tape. Here is my idea.
I know that some of you may have samples in your beat. DON'T GET RID OF IT!!! We can use the sampled beats (if there are any) on our own beat-tape. For the charity/Roland one, try and recreate the beat with sound modules/software, whatever. Or just make a new beat, still using the SP for the work. I know this may throw a curveball at some of you, but remember the cause.
Also we must pick a charity of which we would like to donate to. please post ideas and we will all vote on one. I have to email Mike with a proposition on how this is all going to work, but want to make sure we can all agree to what I have posted above.
Thank you.

Right on. Way to get it out there man.
I wonder what Roland's role would be... what would be a best-case senario? Would they pay to press the cd's & have it mastered? and maybe put a link somewhere on their website? And would they want to package it as a Roland SP promo mix, or could we do our own artwork?
If they're down, they'll probably address all this stuff... cool idea for some corporate sponsorship tho.

In the conversation, I stated that we were not looking for any money and that we would find our own engineers for mixing and mastering. Don't worry I got this covered. As of right now, There role would be to help promote the tape for charity. It makes us and them look really good. They get a get business image, and we gain a great piece for our resume. Who knows what can come out of this. I am personally not looking for anything. I am just glad to be a part of a great experience and have some fun.
