That's a nice piece of gear, really well thought out.. everything seems to make sense. And for the price it goes nowadays, no complaints!

Yes it is quite a slept on piece. I heard its engine is actually the predecessor to the Motif! You can hear examples of the SP 555 and the rs7000 on some tracks i did for an artist at www.myspace.com/dirtydama or anywhere on youtube just search yamaha rs7000.

SP-555, recent buy, used looks like new and a good price
Akai XR20 drums
Alesis Micron, very underrated, much better than my microKorg that I sold
Korg M3 exb-radias, a beast that I sold and replaced with the sp-555, saved me a lot of money!

I have been thinking of a 555 since January and when I found a used one I bought it right away. After a week I am still amazed by the fun and the effects. Even if we have loads of software my 555 is so easy to use. Instant music instead of computer trouble.

Welcome, I hear the micron is a great synth since it also has a sequencer. I have a microkorg and haven't used it much as of yet but I like the sounds in it.

Thanks! The first video we have made that was good enough to put on YouTube we think.

Micron has a great vintage synth sound and the sequencer is quite capable. Limited by the 8 voice polyphony, but you can write songs on it with drums, bass and leads.

MicroKorg has a more trance future flair we believe. I am a Korg fan having owned electribes and Tritons. But for old school electro Micron is our choice.

This forum convinced me to buy a 555, it is a great sketch pad for music.
