there'd be mad potential with one of those in your rig
i was just on youtube wtaching some demos of the KPIII
looks amazing
I think i know the vids you're talking about. i think a kaoss pad would go great with my turntable/MPC/moog/yamaha setup.
i also forgot to mention that i've been thinking about getting a microKorg.

nah man
you actually do have to buy the adaptor
won't cost much, but it is a nuisance. write down the specs from the manual, then go to a Radioo Shack and they'll sort you out
you'll forgive them though, once you start triggering the 404 via the padkontrol. the pK's pads are heavenly, and the Roll function allows some really expressive drum parts

Your missing it.. I have the PadKontrol and love it.. The SP404 can't recieve the midi from the PadKontrol cuz the PadKontrol has to work with Software thru USB... In the Manual it states this you must use Midi cables.. You can connect the PK to your PC for USB power.

I've also been wanting a Yamaha DX-7 or something similar. I've currently got a DX-21, but I hear the more professional models are better overall.
apparently the DX200 is the same sound module as the DX-7, and costs way less, if you can handle it being in a desktop module rather than a keyboard.
