404/MPC 2000
Hey whats up everyone, I just copped a 2K and am wondering how to hook it up to my MPC so that I can get say the Vinyl Sim effect on my sequences
if you want a SP effect on your MPC's sequences, route the MPC's audio through the SP's RCA inputs, make sure Ext Source is on and apply the Vinyl Sim effect to the Ext Source pad
i have noticed that the Vinyl Sim effect will work differently when it processing one source as opposed to multiple sources. ie the same drum pattern will sound different when it is rendered down, as opposed to when it is 4 or 5 samples (kick, snare, hats) being fed through the effect

kill your darlings
I have outputs 3 and 4 in the back of my mpc going in to the sp line ins. And the sp line outs going to the record ins on the mpc. That way i can sequence my drums on the mp, assign those sounds to outputs 3 and 4, and hit the ext source button on the sp. now i'm free to use the 404 effects on my mpc sequence, and in real time. i just set my mpc record mode to Main outs and hit play. you could record it on both machines simultaneously if you wanted. synching the with 404 in auto mode is awesome with this setup cuz you can for example record multiple takes of a sample from the mpc on the fly using different delays and stuff.
