i just found a way to chop beats hella perfect for the 555 in live 7 well i kinda already knew this but never really tried it. well there is a feature called slice to midi in live 7 where you ctrl right click a track and select slice to midi and then select built in then live chops the track up to the way you specified on vertual pads in live then i use loop capture to grab the chopped samples in order 1-16 and boom its like the auto feature but by hand and not by ear its a little slow process but dude it works perfect

I'm not a live 7 nor sp-555 user but I had heard about slice to midi and that's a great technique!!
Yes it might be slow but that can bring great results

Live Drum Racks are awesome. You can throw samples, chops, effects, synths whatever you want on any pad at any time, add some macro controls and it's quite the crazy party.

For just straight chopping, Recycle might be a faster bet though. It autochops by transient and then you can save the file as separate slice files ready to go in your SP. Also Slice to midi reads the .Rex files recycle generates, so Live and Recycle go great together. even after all these years Recycle is still slick.
