SUBSONIC EFX

Post by Antee »

yo regaz, do you use the subsonic efx (22) to create basslines? sometimes i use it and it works good, you can obtain a fat hip hop bass with it...how do you work with this efx? do you edit it with other efx? do you use the pitch of the subsonic efx to find the right note? in my opinion is a real dope feature.

Yea I use it for basslines. I also use it to fatten up kick drums and some other samples. Granted the eq works well too, but I do like the subsonic effect. I pitch it to find the note I am looking for, then eq and sometimes filter to really get it fat sounding. The new track I posted on my Myspace (instrumental for now, Lyrics will be recorded by the end of the week) has a subsonic bassline which sounds incredible.

Usually ill do that if my effect is balanced all the way to the right. If I am using a string sample with the subsonic, I usually cut the highs , lower the mids and boost the bottom. Sometimes I just mess around and if it sounds good ill keep it.

I use it basslines all the time. Ill just sample a few different pitches and then I usually add some compression (vinyl sim comp.) then EQ and some times maybe some drive from the filter or some chorus or something.

yo Frantic, your basslines are really dope, how do you use the EQ on the subsonic? do you talk about the pitch of the efx or do you pitch a subsonic note with your pc?

try lowering the level of the sample before you eq. then boost the eq. sometimes you peak even though the indicator doesn't show it.
