SPD files and library download

Hi All.
In the box with my new 555, I received a sound library on CD-ROM.
The instructions suggested that I copy the files onto CF and upload to the 555 etc.
However, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of files and they are .SPD files.
OK, I guess SPD files are 555 format but it's not clear where to put them on the CF for the 555 to read nor whether there is a limit on how many I can load onto the CF at once.
Also, assuming that I maybe shouldn't load the entire contents of the library onto the CF, does anyone know how to audition an SPD file before upload?
I'm confused...

You should use the 555 wave converter program maybe. That would be my guess. But 555 can only hold 128 samples on a card since there are 8 card banks with 16 samples per bank. Hope this helps. I dunno about spd files
