I begin a UK tour tomorrow (9.27) in Liverpool, and in rehearsal today my 404 was acting a bit strange  I use a (Roland) drum pad into a TD-3 V-Drum module to trigger samples via MIDI on my SP-404. I've done this (successfully) many times before BUT, for some reason it's not working now. I've tried:

- 3 different MIDI cables
- auto/tempo/off MIDI sync modes
- sending 127 different note #'s from the V-Drum unit ...

not sure what else to try but, it's maddening! I DID recently update the 404 OS - sadly, it hasn't been the same since : ( A N Y insight is HIGHly appreciated! cheers!

Did you check the other machines if they still work? It might even be unrelated to the 404, right?

Anyways, good luck.

trigger works great with the V-Drum brain just - NO midi communication with the 404 :!:

I did blow my 404s midi in - I have a minimixer with a power chord that's the same 5pin DIN plug as midi and plugged it in by mistake. It fried a resistor in the 404. It worked again after changing that resistor.
I can't think of anything that would disable midi in, although I think you can turn external midi clock off in the 404, I think midi note messages to play the pads should always get thru.
