spvid help

Post by jbl »

so i have an avi vid for the 808 BUT i can't get a picture. all i can get is sound. i've tried watching it on windows media and winamp which is my primary viewer. i feel like avi should be supported by my pro edition of winamp.

do i need a codec, special player or something? why can't i watch the video. with divx i needed a codec, so is this the same deal with avi? if so, can anybody recommend a good/free codec that would work with winamp preferably?

if i can get the picture then i'll try to figure out how to post it to youtube.

Yeah, you definitely will need a codec when all you get is sound. Usually you will need to install the exact same codec that was used for the movie.

Search the web for codec viewer or something, it should give some hits on programs that can determine which codec you will need in order to play back. If it's a good codec, it will work for both WinAmp and Windows Media player.

thanks phemox.

for some reason i just noticed this post today! i will look for one, i wish this ish was easier (codecs, viewing formats etc...); i always end downloading numerous programs until i get the right one, then i have to figure out how to make it work with winamp, then i have to trash the crap programs, search for spyware, clean it all up...

oh well, thanks i'll get around to it some day.
and then i'll have to figure out how to use youtube so as i can post for all.

no, i haven't even tried recently. when i got it to my laptop it had some trojanware attached to it, which i did catch but...

i really haven't put much thought into finding the codec. i got from the sp-808 users group on yahoo. maybe one of them could tell me what codec i need and if they also experianced this trojan crap. i think it's possible that it attached itself on that file while i was loading the file and not from the poster. any 808 yahoo users group peeps who got the vid to work? how? did u use a codec?

It's likely xvid or divx.

the best mediaplayer is VLC. no need for codecs then.
and the video is on piratebay , but it would be better if someone uploaded it here. I do not think Roland cares anymore, they should actually like it.
