You can also drive other hardware synths with electribe.

I have EA-1 and sometimes I patch it with MAM MB33 bass synth
or roland JX-8P. Sequencer on EA-1 is good but I find roland D2's much better. D2 groovebox is my main sequencer.

With D2 I could run 7 synths and a drum computer on CH 10 but I don't have MIDI spliter.
The tribe and groovebox work really good together.

The D2's look dope. Do you use the d-field very often... ? and if so, what's the best application for it that you've found?

D2 looks like crap and I was really sceptical before I've try it.
In D2 it is the same synth engine as in the MC-505.
No matther what factory presets are there, I have the feeling that this thing is ment for rapers.
D2 is really cool, though the interface isnt user friendly at the beginning...
but when you master the basics you can put out what's on your mind in no time.
D field... yes I use it often. I use it for snare roll, triggering different drum patterns, filter... sometimes I even draw some arpeggios with my finger...but it is capable of a lot more. Overall - really useful feature on D2
Probably I'll buy one more, incase this one brakes up.
One thing that professionals don't like about D2 is that it has only stereo RCA/chinch output... but to me is quite handy because I'm allways short on mixer channels.

i really wanted one of the newer electribes and as much as i like dropping all kinds of money on all the things im into music making is something im very new to... i tend to form collections of stuff i like to try new things out.. i have multiple bicycles and more artsupplies than an art supply store.. anyway.. like i said im new to this stuff and still feeling things out.. i have a 404 and ive done some basic stuff with it as far as drum breaks and some sampling but for some reason i thought/think the sequencer thing will help my progression.. i make random spiffs(mini bonuses) at my work 5 and 10 bucks here and there and they are paid in cash and i dont usually use cash so my spiffs go in a coffee cup in my room. i had around a hundred bucks in my coffee cup and i was browsing craigs list in my city and the surrounding cities looking for an older electribe for around 100 bucks.. i ended up finding one in austin and got him down from 150 to 100 if i picked it up tonight...

anyway the real reason im making this ramble is to say i got an er-1 and ive been messing around with it for 30 minutes and it seems pretty cool and im already making more boom bap beats on it vs uhmp tiss uhmp tiss..

also as my name says im tim from texas.. i grew up in houston which as some of you may know is a bigger city.. im now living in san antonio which is smaller and more suburby and kinda lame.. anyway i am driving to meet this guy in a real small town between here and austin.. and im out in the boonies and we are driving on a highway that in san antonio is 4 to 6 lanes wide and is now down to 2 to 4 lanes wide.. i see a guy on the sholder riding slowly on a horse... black cowboy hat on and all... riding to a bar talking on his cellphone... riding to a bar on a horse talking on a cellphone... ive lived in texas my whole life and never seen that before..

yee haw..

your link isnt working but you were prolly spot on... think a fat marlboro man talking on a cellie...

i can only imagine the typical conversation going on on the phone that would be later in a movie that would make it look like these things happened everywhere in tx...

fact: i had never lived where cactus grew naturally until a few years ago..

fact: the alamo is MUCH smaller than it looks in text books

fact: when i went to art school in OHIO people asked was it weird to see so many cars around

this is why i quantize my ish...

That's shit is so funny.
I like electribes a lot from just using one at Guitar Center, it'd be great to use one for real in my house.

yeah the Electribe ES-1 (mk I or II) looks very nice...

i saw it in this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqwYmq6euLw

apparently it's a sampler, with only 90 or so seconds of sampling time...so i assume in that video the dude has sampled tiny snippets of sounds which he sequences at different pitches etc to create the 'synths'

that's the MKI. well, there are two of them, but they're both the mkI. he could have various snips making the synth melody, or he could be using one snip effected and memorized to creat the melody (ie: get the mkI to remember how he twisted the pitch knob to create the melody, play back that part, including those twists).

i hope nobody has to use the bathroom....

i fink mouse on mars used three es-1s set up together.

Does anyone know how much you can store on the internal memory of the EMX-1? I don't really feel like buying a Smartmedia card.

Any alternatives to the EMX-1?
