the card seems to be new but if i put it in and whatever im trying to do it tells me the card is not ready. i cant even format it.whats wrong with it?:(
apart from that, there are no sounds on it at all.where can i get some from to start with?
and the last thing for now is..how can i load songs or samples that i usually play on winamp for example into p606??

How big is the card? The 606 can only use CF up to 512MB, cards commonly sold today start at 1GB and won't work.

One online source for 512MB cards is amazon.com.

I don't think it can read 16MB cards actually, but it could also be a brand that doesn't work.

I'm sure the sp reads 16mb cards... try reading the card through a different card reader and formatting it on a pc, then try it again on the sp. If the pc wont read it, the card may be damaged or unsupported.

The sp has 16mb on internal memory, which is the first 8 pad banks. You can sample to these banks without the card. The fasted way to get the samples to the sp is to connect via usb and set it as your default playback device for your computer. Now any sound that is played from your computer can be sampled. Just note that the internal memory is quite limiting; soon you will need a card with a substantial amount of memory...

The default sounds are pretty ordinary but they should be on one of the CDs that came with the sampler...

There's two ways, either copy them onto your flash card with a card reader or go to your system settings of the SP-606 and select USB, select connect and you will see your SP-606 pop-up as mass storage device (aka hard drive) on your PC, and copy directly there. (Press [menu] make sure the USB cable is connected and select 5: USB Mass Storage)

Then when you're done copying, you need to import them. You need to press [func] + Pad 10 (card util) . Then you get the option to import file.

Kingston, SanDisk Ultra or Ultra2. These work fine.

What up everyone ? I got a question- I got a Kodak card, 512mb, and when I try to load something on the 606, it keeps giving me an error messaged of "unsupported", can someone tell me what is wrong and/or what am i doing wrong...this is what i have done so far...
1. I took out all the files form their folders, and just moved them to the "roland" folder-no luck.
2. I deleted everything that wasn't wav. or aif-no luck.
can someone give me some insight on what to do/steps/tips please?
Also, can anyone tell me if there is a firmwire update/os for the 606 that I need to be aware of, and nay other side tips/advice or links to such things that I need to sticky/bookmark ? Thx in advance and be blessed-j225

Did it start to format the card? If not, look in the manual on how to format a CF card. If all else fails though, you might have a card that's exactly that ... 'unsupported'. Meaning you'll have to get a different one of a different brand.

Ok, might try that today, I read somewhere in another post you were reccomnding cards that were 1g that showed to work in the 606, can you give me quick list of those brands/kinds- i work in bestbuy so i can get them pretty cheaply. Sidebar, do you know if any good beatmaking videos that show the proccess from a basic start to finish, cause i am kinda lost somewhat, thx -j225

I think you're mistaken here or I probably wasn't very clear in those other posts then. As the thing is, I also have had an SP-555 and for that I've always used 1Gb cards, hence the brand recommendation. :)

There should be small stores that still have 512MB cards stock, mostly the photo camera stores, but I've heard the 512mb line is discontinued, so you might have better luck trying eBay, Amazon and so on.

Perhaps NewEgg has some left.

(Disclaimer: Not sure if this brand is fine, perhaps someone else can tell. )

As for the tutorials, I'd check out YouTube. There should be some really good SP-606 movies there. Also check out the Roland website;

(click on the 'video' tab there!)
