Howdy folks, first post so apologies if this isn't in the right place.

I'm utterly confused about the above. I've got twenty samples on my Kingston 1gb card, and am trying to import them to Bank C and onwards. They're all numbered "01" through to "23"- the internal memory is clear with nothing on it. I go to import from my card to Bank C, and it gives me the "full" message after importing two samples. Also, the two it manages are choppy to say the least. The samples range from about 60kb to 1mb- too big?

Hoping it's just the savage weekend I've inflicted on myself, I'm trying not to worry about the fact my 404 has turned itself off a couple of times while I've been trying to work it all out.

Thanks in advance- peas.

Asmo.

Do you have your samples in 16bit 44.1khz PCM wave format?

Yeah I do. Have since managed to get my drum samples (1-12) imported onto Bank A, but my other longer piano samples just send the machine a bit haywire.

Try initializing the card and then download the most recent OS from Roland's website and load it using the card, It's possible that it could be the card though.
Good Luck

Thanks dude, will do. Think it is something to do with the card and possibly the reader, it's utterly crashed my PC too.

Yeah, you could get a new card and try it out. If it works keep it, if not just return it and tell 'em you got the wrong format card or something at the store.

Not being able to use those pad banks definitely means the card doesn't work correctly. Which brand do you use? It's quite likely to be directly related to your problems.

You could also check if the pad banks you're trying to copy samples to are copy-protected, but that's unlikely and should still not cause any haywire action. :p

Cheers guys- it's a Kingston 1GB. Have ordered a SanDisk 1GB as I'm pretty sure it's the card screwing everything up.
