Newbie Sequence Q - mixes of samples as seperate passes

I got the SP404 two days ago, and have been enoying it since.
I have a sequence question, which is very basic.
This forum is really nice, I read through it, but I couldn't find a similar Q.

Someone wrote it out on the internet, but I couldn't find the answer:

"Why is it that when you play a sampled loop into a drum pattern you sequence on a roland sp-404 the pattern and the loop play together for one pass then the drum pattern plays by itself?"

Any help with this would help me round out the first level (sample,effect,sequence)

hmm... maybe you have to turn the loop light off on the sample you want to loop... but i don't have my 404 in front of me

Maybe I'm being dense, but I have no idea what you're asking. Maybe you could rephrase the question?

It's most likely the way you have that sample selected to playback. Try switching it to like one shot playback, gated, and trigger and see which one works while you have your pattern sequence playing.
