filtering to get bass sound

Post by balazs »

on the sp low end seems to peak and distort at low volumes when resampling. This used to make me angry, now i use it as fx. i dont know if this is well known or not.

use isolator with low end at max and mids and hi off. then resample. if it doesnt distort yet then repeat. use eq(13) on the distorted sample -turn down mids and hi with low end at max.

it works well for me, none of the other fx gave me good bass that cut thru the mix.

cool, I do something similar to this. I cut the hi and mid all the way and then cut the bass by about a quarter. Then, I resamples and boost the low end on the EQ (13) and it focuses on less frequencies that way, so then u compress and get a fatter, tighter sound.

i cant really imagine that first way is good for smooth basslines... when i filter out the bass i only turn down the mid and hi and let the lows rest at 12 o clock. if i want it to be more focussed on the bass i do this again...and again...untill i have the desired result.

i used that idea for my tradition beat http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInf ... ID=5502623 and thats the kind of bass i go for. but your right. I tried to do it again and got distorted garbage. gotta go back and figure out how i did it the first time.
