Turn your 404 into a Mellotron!

I have been use the 404 for live perfomances and i decided to import some Mellotron banks into it so i could play it like a keyboard with all the desired notes i needed. It was quite cool having and controlling these choirs and string orchestras from the little silver box while messing with the effects live. Really cool ****

and well, i decided to back up the samples and share them with other sp artist's over here.

-Bank G consists of Mellotron Strings
-Bank H consists of Mellotron Brass
-Bank I consists of Mellotron Flutes and,
-Bank J consists of the Mellotron Choir

Pads 1 -12 are notes C - B. I find that it was quite interesting to come with chords through shapes, apposed to the traditional linear approach of a keyboard.

i've always found it useful that there's 12 semitones in an octave, and 12 pads in a 404 bank

Don't forget you can use more than one bank and use the full keyboard for your multi-octave pleasure! :lol:

and its worth mentioning that these are standard wav files, so they can be used with most samplers..

ordered semi-tone pads is a really nice way to do things!
i like this a lot. i was wondering if this could be done with other sounds. how could you make semi-tone(or multi-octave) on your pc. then you could save as wav. and...

The good'ol Tron is perfect for the 404 - it had no velocity or attack-decay envelope either!

There is/was a decent sounding free VST instrument called "Mr Ray". You could sample that?

I love these samples - But I converted them to Mono first - pretty sure the old 'tron was mono anyway. + a bit of compression and wow from the 404 Vinyl Sim - those samples must be from a well serviced instrument. For me the magic Mellotron sound includes quite a bit of worn tape grunge - you can hear the tape grinding over the playback heads. Classic!
