there's the old school jungle one, which sounds like a sine wave sequenced in lots of short instances, moving between notes

and the more modern "reese", long distorted notes that have alot of movement within the sound itself

while i can re-create the sounds, i have trouble visualising how the patterns are formed...

more deeper and fatter the base the better hehe 8)

When I think of dnb basslines, I think of something that's an reinforces the percussion more so than support for a melody. Coupled with a load of layering, distortion, and filtering. If you kinda ignore all the fx, the notes become pretty obvious unless there is somekinda pitchbending going on.

All that being said, I've analyzed it a lot, but have only attempted to create a hybrid type semi dnb'sih track once... many many many moons ago.

ancient track from the yesteryears

Had to snag it off archive.org's WayBackMachine... lol. Kinda funny to listen to something so old. Was kinda hell bent back then on figuriing out how to spin dnb into something else.. kinda turned into that mess. hah. ;)

The first track, because of the piano line, reminds me of some really oldskool stuff tho a lot more mellow. The drums are really nice too! Ahhh the memories! :D Yeah, it's def bugged when you step back to listen to stuff.

Like jbl, enjoyed all this dnb talk. It's been a while.

This is a nice thread, I've always been interested in the composing that goes into D'n B and other electronic styles of music.
