the px100's are great, foldable, and sound amazingly clear. the perfect portable

but there's just something about the sound of sony's that i love. a certain color that is just really pleasing. like they make snares snap harder or something...but not too harsh
i'm currently using the mdr-v150. cheap, but i'm careful with them. if you want the same style but with good treble, get the silver mdr-v300

audio technica ath-m30 is also a good cheap alternative to the sony mdr-7506

remember with sony the V series is consumer grade (mdr-v500, v600, v900)
the 7505, 7506 and 7509 look the same as those but are pro grade (sound better & more expensive)

im also using the mdr-v-150's
they say studio monitor .....is this true are they really good nuff for studio monitoring ?

the v150's don't have enough treble, so a serious mix engineer probably wouldn't like them compared to say the 7500 pro series.
but i've seen them in pics of madlib's and dilla's home setups

I got the mdr v-700. I use them mostly for scratching... they also got a pretty clean and powerful output but they are very uncomfortable. One day they gonna kill my eardrum. I'm really scared of gettin tinnitus.

I mixed 2 albums on v150s and I still use em. They're good once you get used to them. That being said, you should audition your mix on every speaker you can get your hands on.

Cosign. They're nice, but they squeeze the heck outta my dome and I can't stand to wear em for too long. I also feel like they give an unrealistic low end.

I have a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-PRO5Ms that I prefer over the Sony's. They are much more comfortable and more accurate in my opinion (less expensive too)... don't feel as sturdy tho.

too fat. I usually can't hear half the stuff I hear in the headphones when I go to speakers (not real monitors, but home stereo and computer ones).

So which one to pick... each ear a different shell?

I'm always "suprised" when I hear my shit on someone elses speakers. Most of the time they need to get that bass completely off and put some eq preset like classical music or jazz or sth. on it. Mixing on different speakers is a good thought which never came to my mind. :roll:

But which system to thrust? I mean what's the key to this? I have some small but nice krk5. My shit always sounds alright on them but on other systems... jesus... I'm always like "that isn't my music yo"

By the way what the hell is myspace doing with the mp3s?

Don't trust any of em, and all em at the same time. The idea is to tweak the mix on each speaker in order o get a neutral sort of happy medium. You want the mix to sound a good as possible on all of em. While it may not be it's best on any one set of speakers you should be confident that it'll sound good on any set of speakers. I'm not that great explaining thing in text, hope this can clear things up some.

Dont' you feel like they kill a lot of the hi's? y stuff always sounds better on zshare for example... I think myspace converts the mp3's, right?! But what the hell are they doing with it???
I'm thinking of getting a soundsnap (...) account / -player, cause that stuff sounds alright...

like i said the v300 is the same headphone but silver, more treble and about twice the price.

the thing about all the big v700, 7506, etc. is the coiled telephone style cord. i'm not really a fan of that unless djing, which i don't really do...

the audio technica ath-m30 has a straight cord too

yeah man thats right i was thinking it was just me wow wtf are they doing killing our production.
