memory card issue....or im just a dumbass

so i bought the infamous 404 this weekend. what a fun toy. i had been using internal memory until today when i purchased a 2 GB CF card from a camera store. i inserted the card, and tried selecting an external bank but none of the buttons seem to light up. i read up on my manual and it said that i need to format a card. so i held down cancel then pressed remain....nothing happened. i held down cancel and remain at the same time and pads c-f light up but they were not blinking.

do i need a 1gb card? maybe somethings damaged with my 404(it was the floor model at guitar center....although, it doesnt really appear to be damaged in any other way). what am i doing wrong?

Welcome aboard...

All I know is that the 404 supports CF cards up to 1GB, that's the only problem. I'm convinced your machine is alright. Enjoy your 404! Maybe you're already fit for the arena? (btw 1GB is more than enough)

i don't think you formatted it properly
the Delete button should blink, and the screen asking if you wish to format

you have to hit the Delete button before the card will format

check page 38 of the manual


i am pretty sure 2 gig cards do work, the Sandisk ones at least

nope, the SP404 does not take a 2gig card. I remember reading it in the manual when I made the mistake of getting a 2Gig card
