Live 404 Beats, Live Cuts, Live Rhymes

Post by Dr. Tad Winslow »

Ayo, this is a forty minute live set I did recently with some homies. All original tracks... I go by Shupe, I'm playing all the beats live straight out of my 404 (there's 2 tracks where I rap and I'm just playing the beat back, I'm playing the rest of 'em live with a midi controller). My friends Pensivv and Ill By Instinct are on the rest of the vocals, and Doc Joshua is on the turntables laying down some cuts. We run my 404 into the right channel of his DJ mixer, and he uses one table, that way he can drop the beat out and shit with his crossfader.

Since it's a live set, the mixing isn't ideal, but the sound is straight off the board so it's really pretty good... It's only one track, and it gets better as it goes on. It really starts to pick up around 16:00 in, but it's dope throughout. You should check it our if you wanna hear some live 404 beats and some dope rappers.

Shupe, Pensivv, Ill By Instinct, and Doc Joshua live at the Big Easy in Portland, ME 8/4/08:

i'm liking what i'm hearing mans. yr bro sounds a little like Alias or Sage Francis (main vox around 16 / 17 mins?) ... liking how you all leave room for each other - the cuts don't dominate the beats, the beats leave room for the rhymes.

yet another great fing outta portland! get yr oreg on.

blast1, sorry that shit didn't work for you... You seem to be the only one who had a problem, I'm not sure what's up with that. Thank you for trying..

thanks a lot, much appreciated. That was our first show all together in that format, and we've since played 2 more which went even smoother. We're going to continue practicing, playing shows, and writing new songs. Thanks again for the kind words.

Very nice, I definitely like the scratching and beats a lot. Plenty of room for the emcees to shine. :)

Those lyrics are cool as well. Good flow in the raps as well. Well done.
