i struggled with quitting for over a year before i got there 100 percent. one thing i noticed is that when i would socially smoke one cigarette, or even take a few puffs from a friend, i would feel very irritable for the next few days.... which led to smoking another one... and more anxious feelings. that's a hard cycle to break.

moral of the story- stopping completely is harsh but it works, and "cutting back" or socially smoking one here and there only prolongs the pain.

one more thing- i decided to quit because i was in the hospital for appendicitis and the man across the hall from me was dying of a lung disease. he was literally drowning in his own lung juice, and his last hours were grisly and disturbing. i don't want that for me, or for you! stay strong

Not for nothing you should consider buying the nicotine gum.
It's like $40 for a box, but you can use it for when the craving gets so bad you might break down.
Remember the smoking is just a delivery system for the nicotine.

yeh my mates try quitting so many times i lost count. so im not even gonna bother starting. It starts off cold turkey...then theres the problem of if pot/tobaco mix counts...so they make an exception. then its a cigarette once a week...just to cut down. then its a few on the weekend.....then they back where they started. all that pain and effort for nothing :?
qutting sounds like it sucks assss. stay in there dude....i find quitters give in when they are in the situation where they would usually smoke - at parties, clubs, pubs, when drunk, when smokin cones etc....

Which is exactly what you should stop... quitting really is a psychological thing. 80% of it is just having a bad habit of doing things with a cigarette.

The nicotine and sugar only makes you continue to smoke, but if you quite for a week, you can quite for a year. It's a matter of really wanting to quit and not give up half way there.

Smoking, oops I mean eating nicotine gum, only extends the period it will take to get off the cigarettes.

All said and done though, for some people nicotine gum works...

Most people replace one addiction for another, for instance a person might quit smoking but start drinking more coffee instead. I would suggest replacing smoking with a good habit that benefits your life.

I enjoy tucking a piece of the gum once in awhile (no smoko) - nicotine is a great mental relaxant--

I always thought it'd be funny if someone wore nicotine patches and chewed nicotine gum just to get a fix since you practically can't smoke cigarettes anywhere in California.

Lol, now that would be something.

I bet it would become reality if those nicotine gums weren't so damn expensive... :)
