I recently quit smoking last sat. So it's been eh.. 5 days since I last smoked a cigarette. It's probably one of the hardest things I've had to do. I smoked on and off (mostly on) over the past 10 years. I want to be healthier. Even though because of the withdrawls I have been drinking more, and smoking herb (I quit smokin' herb almost a year ago). I guess it the lesser of two evils. And Hopefully if I can get through the next 5 days i'll stop compensating with the alternatives.

Anyway.. IT'S HARD. F*CK it's hard.

Anyone have any advice? What helped you quit an addiction?

you want my advice, never quit smoking herb longer than temporarily. it seems like a good idea when you're burnt but you don't really wanna be a non herb smoker. just my 2¢.

...I'll still smoke herb on occasion. Not to the degree I have over the past 10 years though.

No more cigarettes though.

The only point I can offer is, like for any habit, it's best to try avoiding the usual situations where you'd want to smoke. As opposed to trying not to think about it, if you can fill that time with something else, it'll be off the radar that much more. We're definitely creatures of habit too... If you can stay off for three weeks, it'll be easy giving up for good.

As for the weed... time and place for it, and everything in moderation, as they say. For me, these days it's giving me more and more of a "hangover", I'll have a cone and be high for two hours, but I'm trading it for the next day and a half. My mind is cloudy and slows down my work (with computers) a lot... on that note, I'm wondering if there's any sort of diet related stuff that would speed up the recovery...

yeah... I'd also agree with ig9's sentiment on the matter. every time I've "quit" the herb it always feels so good to come back to once I've sorted out the real problems. wishin I could grab a nug or 2 outta that bag Jay... 8)

Best of luck with kickin the tobacco habit homie... that's the killer for sure.

Yeah, my brother has tried to stop smoking the strongest cigarrette known to man *aka* Newport Menthols, haha. He has on and off, but still smokes though, he's considering givin it another shot. It comes down to self mastery which is somthing that I personally find very difficult at times. I dont smoke cigs, but I have had other things to get control over like weight issues. Make sure to have the proper supporting cast. For me that ment spending a bit more time out of the lab, and spend more time lifting more things than bud and vinyl. And instead of stayin a lab rat, actually doing some form of exercise. So good luck 2 ya, from what I've seen it's a pretty difficult task, But also from what I have observed its worth the effort. Peace, Duss 8) .

Thanks for all the words of encouragement and advice ya'll much appreciated. Jay that bag looks delicious. Nice greenery.

So It's been... 7 or 8 days. Not sure anymore. But I feel like I have a decent hold on it. Everytime I get a craving it just pisses me off and makes me not want to smoke.

nasty habit.

i find a good strong psychedelic lifts the cloud quite nicely. or changing up your strains. it's all a matter of balance. =)
