Alright, so I discovered that I can only trigger samples with midi, not patterns. I can only control the tempo of patterns... Ideally I'd like to be able to tap a tempo, then trigger a sample at THAT tempo with a midi foot controller. Anyone know of a device that would allow me to do this?
For now, I'll just have to practice enough to get tempos into my head, maybe buy a cheap little metronome to get a visual of the tempo before I start, I'll deal with what I have until I come up with a new plan, haha.

Not really. There might be loopers that can do this, but I don't know for sure. I think there's a guitar pedal looper that is able to do this (tap tempo using a stomp box thing on the pedal). Totally unsure about it's sampling capabilities though as it's a looper, not a sampler.
