Black Moses--R.I.P. Isaac Hayes

as i'm sure is the case with most of you,the passing of Isaac Hayes inspired me to flip something of his...i didnt try to get all crazy with it,just wanted to make a simple tribute track.
i hope heads realize what a genius this man was-he wasn't just a guy with a cool voice;he produced,arranged and played multi instruments on all his albums,obviously wrote most of the lyrics-and was incredibly ahead of his time.also- when he was really young,before he became a solo artist,he played keys on a lot of early souls greatest songs...a lot of people don't realize this-i actually didn't know about his accomplishments before his solo work until just a few months ago-but you'll see "I. Hayes" on mad credits-espescially a lot of early atlantic stuff.
anyway,i actually picked up his double album "Black Moses" a couple months ago (in the DOLLAR BIN!!it has a 4 foot tall full body shot fold out cover thats been hanging on my wall since i got it )-this is a record that gave portishead careers,and has been sampled by a handful of hip hop producers-still theres quite a few joints that havent been touched yet.the song i used is "Mans' Temptation"....when i heard this record i thought it was the best all around soul album i had ever heard,and i still think so.

While he wasnt young,he still died young-its tragic to see anyone go early,espescially someone thats given so much to the world...

i started working on this yesterday,and i just saw theres a sample of his up for the battle-i'm gonna try to get on it if i can.
this isnt tracked out,my new interface is on the way,when i get it i might mix this for real-it definitely doesnt sound as good as it could.sorry about the wav download,i havent got a mp3 converter yet..

thanks man..yea i used kicks-dry on the second 4 bars of the intro and i put subsonic on them through the rest-you cant hear them too great (in this mix)just listening straight from a computer,but they thump pretty hard through my shitty stereo speakers.good looking...1

thank you man,i really do appreciate that a lot,seriously,its high praise coming from you.im actually surprised this didnt get more feed-not from a personal praise my beat standpoint,but i dont see anyone on here actually saying anything ABOUT the man-even while using his sample in a battle immediately after he passed away-except a chef comment that bordered on being disrespectful.you showed your respect though,& picked a really dope track ,i'd like to try to do something with it tonightif i can.its just kinda dissapointing to not see any threads dedicated to him on a production website.anyway..

as far as how long i've been making beats-its kinda complicated-i got my first machine (ensoniq asr)in like 96-i started to learn it a little, made a few decent beats on it,but then my life went crazy and i lost all i had-i then got an eps in 98-but the same thing happened again-somehow the eps was one of the only things i held on to-after a bunch of months institutionalized i lived in this group home where all i did was sell trees and make beats,i was really just looping shit though-then the cycle repeated twice more-i had a sampletrack for about 8 months in 01-02,thats when i first learned how to chop shit up...got another one in 06..and here we are in 08 with a 404.
so even thoughi got started 12 yars ago,altogether its been like 3 or 4 years or something of actually having equipment and records.

lol...guess that wasnt all neccesary i just think its a kinda interesting story.i ALWAYS wonder what coulda been,beats and rapping...

by the way wax-since you have the song you should see what you can do with it-theres mad different movements & change ups in it,i didnt even scratch the surface of what could really be done with the song.

thanks drew..this beat is far from spectacular-but i've been in a big rut lately and this helped me start to get out of it...i'll probably go back and do more with it at some point
