Midi Control of the SP 555

Post by stwerner92182 »

Alright, I've got a question for all of you. I want to control my sp 555 with a midi foot controller... I basically want to set a controller up to have a footswitch for each pad on the sp 555, and a footswitch to use for the tap tempo. The idea is that I want to be able to play an instrument along with my sampler and still be able to switch the patterns being played, so that I can have a song with multiple sections. What sort of pedal would I need to accomplish this? Is this even possible? How might I do this with the right gear?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much.

hmm...this is a tough thing to do with the 555. As far as I know...there is no midi control for the tap tempo button. I dont know anything about midi foot controllers. But I do know that the midi note numbers on the pads of the sp-555 are set in stone. So you will need a foot controller that is in the proper scale or that can be edited somewhat. Also, its not possible to trigger patterns created in the sequencer via midi. Unless you record them as samples using the loop capture.

Thanks, so for now, I'll have to get myself a little metronome so that I can get a visual on the tempo and just use the samples... does anyone else find it weird that you can't change the tempo of samples? Only Patterns, then you can't trigger patterns with midi? That seems like someone didn't put much thought into that.

I did find a roland footpedal that will let me trigger pads though, the PK-5a, if anyone's curious.
