M-Audio Axiom 49 Problem

So, I have my M-Audio Axiom 49 midi controller hooked up to my MacBook to play Garageband soft synths. I then have the USB hooked up from the MacBook to the SP-555. The midi controller works great....

....BUT, there is an odd problem. Whenever I hit a pad, it plays a note of whatever soft synth I have selected in Garageband. Is there a way to turn of the pads so that they don't play the notes from USB Midi in? I did see a way in the back of the manual to change the notes, but I don't want any notes.

change the midi channel of the 555.
